4th Class News

Mr. Cherry’s class have been very busy and active over the last few weeks. We really enjoyed the school Sports Day and had lots of fun. We recently went on a mini-beast hunt in Mountjoy Square Park and found lots of different creatures living there. We also visited the playground beside the park as part of Active Schools Week.
We have finished all of our tests now and we tried really hard. Next week we are going on our school tour to Fort Lucan, it’s going to be so much fun!

Lord Mayor’s Cup 2013

The children from 4th and 5th class braved the wintry conditions yesterday and reached the semi-finals of the Lord Mayor’s Cup. Unfortunately they were beaten by St. Laurence O’ Tooles and just missed out on the bronze medal. The boys and girls did the school proud and performed brilliantly in all five events – soccer, penalties, running, basketball and wall-climbing.

We certainly have some fantastic athletes in our school and there’s no doubt we’ll be in the hunt for the medals again next year. The future of sport in Rutland NS is looking extremely bright. Well done to everyone involved!

4th Class News

We’ve had such a busy couple of months here in 4th class. As well as working really hard in class,  we have been playing a lot of chess with 5th class and we are improving every week. We visited a local bank in October, where we told them all about products that we had designed ourselves. We also met the Lord Mayor of Dublin in the Smock Alley Theatre. He is a really nice man! We even had a visit from a maths magician, who showed us some great tricks. Just before Halloween we made some delicious chocolate apples. We had great fun dressing up for the Halloween party and we played some really fun games!

Happy Christmas From 1st Class!

Hello everyone! Take a look at the lovely clay heads that we made recently. Do you like them?

We have been very good children this year and we are all set for Christmas now. We had great fun doing our Christmas rap at the school concert last week, we hope that you all enjoyed it. We wish you all a very happy Christmas!!

1st Class Trip to Botanic Gardens

First Class had a great time in the Botanic Gardens last week. It was a lovely sunny day. We went on a nature walk and found lots of interesting things! Some children found pine cones and conkers, while other children collected autumn leaves. We saw a squirrel collecting food for the winter and ducks swimming in the pond. We also got to play a few fun games and sang some songs on the way back to school. We all think that the Botanic Gardens are a really cool place to visit!

4th Class Clay Heads

We had great fun last week making heads out of clay. When the clay dried we painted them and tried to make them as realistic looking as possible. Please have a look and let us know what you think!
