One Book One Community

5th & 6th class are taking part in ‘One Book One Community’ project along with many other schools in Dublin 1. They are reading ‘Across the Divide’ written by Brian Gallagher. This book is based on the 1913 Lockout, Dublin. It is very interesting to learn about our streets so many years ago. Some streets have changed, but others have stayed the same. We officially launched the book in the Ballybough centre March 3rd. Alice and Cara from 5th class went and met the author! He signed their books! They watched Marlborough Street School act out a scene of Liam and Nora in the book. We have 5 weeks to read this book, and do loads of fun activities. Parents and everyone in the area are invited to read it also 🙂

We are reading Across the Divide in Fifth Class. It is going well so far, it is very exciting. It is a hard enough book, so a good challenge for our class. We like the way that it is set years ago in our area.
