Last year Miss baileys class and their parents went on a trip to the Botanical gardens.We saw some amazing and inspiring works of art! We went again this year and photos are on their way
These boys and girls haven’t missed a single day ALL year. They had ice-cream in the park as a reward. Well Done everyone!

Doodle Den will be starting for children in Senior Infants on Monday 8th of September.
- It will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the hall in Seán Treacy House Apartments.
- The Caspr club will collect the children from school at 1.25 on the Doodle Den days and parents need to then collect the children from Seán Treacy House at 4.15 each day.
We are looking forward to another year of lots of learning!

Dear Parent/Guardian
The school will close for the summer holidays on Friday June 27th at 12.30pm. School will re-open on Monday 1st of September 2014. Tracksuits will be available for sale and school books can be paid for on Wednesday August 27th, Thursday August 28th and Friday August 29th between 10.00am to 2.00pm. If you would like to pay a deposit off the book subscription this would also be welcome.
Cost of school books this year is €50.00
School Tracksuits cost €45.00/€50.00 for 13/14 & Size Small

Once again we have had a very successful and enjoyable year at Rutland National School. We thank you for your ongoing support and co-operation.

LYCS and D.C.C. are hosting a Voter Registration Drive in the reception area from 8.50am until 9.20am on Monday 31st March 2014. If Parents/Guardians wish to register for the forthcoming elections they need to bring with them I.D (passport or driving license) and a utility bill as proof of residence. Just want to say a big thank you to all the Parents and Guardians who took the time to fill out our recent Anti-Bullying Survey. Your opinions and ideas are important to us and we will take note of them. Our revised Anti-Bullying Policy will soon be available for viewing on our school website
School will close for mid-term break on Friday February 14th.
School will re-open on Monday February 24th.
The school is working on getting a second green flag for energy. We are trying to switch off lights and school appliances when they are not needed.
Children recently undertook an appliance audit in the school. Every class is making an effort to completely turn off computers, printers and lights every afternoon at home time. We are keeping up the good work with recycling and reducing litter and waste.
There are great preparations underway in sixth class for the Confirmation. We have been reading lots of stories, learning about the fruits and gifts of the spirit and writing prayers ahead of our enrolement ceremony . This ceremony will take place in the classroom next Thursday, 21st March 1.30pm. All parents and sponsors are welcome. Talk to your children about the great work they have been doing as they prepare for this important sacrament.
Fifth and sixth classes have been enjoying
boxing lessons over the past two weeks . Five
children will be selected to go to the national
stadium after the mid term. We have learned
lots !
The boys and girls of sixth got the chance to enjoy themselves during the recent drumming workshop . As well as having lots of fun they learned some new skills . Kome and Ali were excellent at keeping the rhythm !
The school made a great effort in the collection of food and other items for the St. Vincent De Paul. Well done to everybody. The sixth class boys and girls dropped the goods over on Friday . The food will go to deserving families this Christmas.
Sixth class have settled back into school really well . We have started our Confirmation preparations already . The NYP are coming into us every Tuesday and we will have a trip at the end of the sessions . We are also starting meditation soon .
We are learning all about DATA in maths this week and we did a survey to see how the teachers get to school. Thanks to Lee who collected all of the information from the staff yesterday.

We celebrate and pray to Holy Mary for the month of May. May she guide us as we prepare for the end of year exams, Communion and Confirmation.
We have a lovely May altar at the entrance to the canteen. Please come and pray, leave a prayer for Mary in the special prayer box or perhaps complete the ‘Hail Mary’ prayer filling in the blanks using words from the jar.
Father Tim and all of the parents joined 6th class for their enrolment ceremony in preparation for their Confirmation.

We are working hard on : Photocopying on both sides of the page , reusing old cardboard, separating fruit waste , recycling paper and using one paper towel. Here are some pictures of children litter picking in the yard with Miss Gaynor.
5th and 6th classes have been reading the book ‘Taking Sides’ by Brian Gallagher. It is set in Dublin during the civil war of 1921/1922. We went to a Live History show in Larkin College where we saw (and tried out!) guns and uniforms that the soldiers and people used to have back in those days. It was very interesting.[imagebrowser id=4]
Second Class have been playing some fun maths games on Wednesday afternoons. Big thanks to the parents and grandparents who came in to take part! Everyone had a great time and we proved that maths can be great fun!

Fourth class are going to Larkin every Wednesday for wall climbing , dancing and drama . We are also swimming every Monday so we are getting lots of exercise ! We are looking forward to the Christmas concert on Friday 16th December . Our act will be brilliant !
The current term of the Board of Management will expire on 03/11/2011 and a new Board of Management takes up office on 01/12/2011. Two parents of children enrolled in the school must be elected by the general body of parents. A meeting will be held at the school on Friday the 28th at 9.00am in the Parents Room.

We had a great but tiring week in school last week – it took us a while to explore our new room and play with our new toys!
This week we have started our work in all our new books. We are making a really big effort and trying hard!

We had a brilliant trip to Glenroe farm . The weather was great . We went on a nature walk and got to see and learn about lots of animals .
Congratulations to the boys and girls in second class who made their Communion on Saturday . The children were fantastic throughout the ceremony . I hope everybody enjoyed their day .
Hi everyone! We just wanted to let you all know that we haven’t disappeared! We are really busy in 6th Class preparing for our Confirmation which will take place on the 9th of June. We were presented recently with our certificates for completing the NYP/Talbot Centre Drug and Alcohol Awareness programme – check out our photo below…

And straight away I saw rain,

Our Junior and Senior Infants had egg hunts where parents helped us to find
our eggs! It was really difficult to find the eggs matching our stickers, but we did great searching and had 5 eggs each to enjoy afterwards!
Our classes had great fun doing Easter art activities. We were thrilled to have loads of parents help us!
